Since 2009, Asher has practiced a thoughtful, deliberate style of investing, anchored in the fundamentals. He founded Magnifina in 2019 on the conviction that disciplined investment management should be available to every serious investor, regardless of account size. The firm serves individuals, families, and institutions. Prior to Magnifina, Asher co-managed Bloomsbury Partners, a private investment company, growing its assets to over $25 million. Today, that same fundamentals-first discipline guides how Magnifina serves every client.
Asher’s early career on Wall Street offered a rare vantage point on the inner workings of global markets. He worked on the foreign exchange forwards desk of a prominent investment bank during the 2007–2009 financial crisis, where he witnessed firsthand the complex interconnections between asset classes and global economies. His responsibilities included designing and implementing high-frequency trading algorithms, market-making for complex derivatives, and proprietary trading. Asher is frequently quoted in financial media on topics ranging from portfolio strategy to market valuation and the broader economy.
As a fee-only advisor and member of the FeeOnlyNetwork, Asher does not accept commissions or kickbacks from brokerage firms or issuers of securities. He also serves on the board of the National Association of Active Investment Managers (NAAIM), an industry group for Registered Investment Adviser firms focused on the benefits of active investing strategies.
A Seattle native, Asher is an avid sailor and former racer with the North Cove Sailing Club, a Battery Park-based fleet of keelboats that raced in New York Harbor. He sees real overlap between winning races and successful investing.
